Bio: Colleen Wood
Youth Director
Colleen Wood is no stranger to youth ministry. Prior to leaving the synod last November, she had worked in youth ministry within The Presbyterian Church in Canada for almost fifteen years. She has worked at camp (Gracefield Camp and Conference Centre), served as the Youth Ministry Coordinator for St. Giles Presbyterian Church in Ottawa, served as the coordinator for Youth in Mission, and she currently provides some support to the Teacher/Leader Program of our national church. She also works half-time as the editor of Glad Tidings, the magazine of the Women’s Missionary Society (WMS).
Colleen believes that young people are the church of today, not only the church of tomorrow. She loves to see young people involved in leadership, participating in mission, exploring their faith, and having fun! She also believes that young people need a variety of adults in their lives, and she will be working with the many volunteers in our youth ministry to equip them in this important calling.
Colleen enjoys spending time with her husband, John, and 2 ½ year old son, Ian. As a family they enjoy camping, hiking, Kawartha ice cream, and time with friends. Colleen also enjoys running, knitting, and gardening.
