Adult Education

There isn’t a person out there who does not have questions about their faith.  We take these questions and the life of the mind seriously.  We engage in the questions that our society is asking without giving simplistic answers.

We offer a variety of options for adult Christian education.  The Alpha Course serves as a good introduction to the Christian faith and to St. Andrew’s.  We find that people who complete Alpha feel more confident in what they believe and are ready to worship and serve God in new and exciting ways.  We also have regular discussion groups, usually on Wednesday evenings, that often centre on a video series.  Through video we learn from some of the brightest and the best teachers in the world and can touch on some of the most pressing issues for Christians today.  During the daytime we often have once a week discussion and study groups for those who don’t find evenings convenient.  Periodically there are “Sermon and Sandwiches” discussions after church where we provide the lunch and participants provide lively discussion about the morning’s sermon.

The Alpha Course

Date: Wednesdays, Feb 01 - Apr 04, 2012 @ 7:30pm, Dinner at 6:30 pm

The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith. It’s relaxed, non-threatening, low key, friendly and fun. There is a meal together at the beginning of each session which gives us an opportunity to get to know each other. Listen, learn, discuss and discover. Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too challenging.

In Part 1 of this study we looked at the beginnings of the Christian Church and the key figures in the story - Peter, Paul, Philip, Barnabas and others working to get the Gospel message out.

In Part 2, by looking at the Missionary Journeys of Paul, we’ll see how the Church begins to reach out beyond Jerusalem into the wider world and how it is affected by the social, political and religious ideas of the day.
